What My Soul Misses

What my soul misses without Cathy

Her mischievousness-that look in her eye that began some new adventure

Those crazy birthday cakes with food coloring to keep mouths and lips blue, purple, green, or red for days

The way she would stand in front of me, or anyone, if she thought we needed a SWAT team

Her never wavering go for Lynne and Alex

Laughing so hard, singing even louder.

No patience for doubt or mean or ignorance

The longing in her eyes for everything the strokes took from her

Her ability to swear-giving lessons to sailors

How she fought her way back so many times

All the hand-written notes on her calendars

Essential oils and Shakras and Chee

Her great love of the beach and the mountains,

The stars and the earth

My soul misses the one I could always count on for anything, even when she was mad at me.

I can still hear her and see her rolling her eyes at the mess.

Such a great reminder of that awesome person who added so much to our lives. The way she looked after Jana without making her mad. Her heart was so big! Her friendship so precious. I know that Julie is very upset with me right now and won’t let me be friends with Jana anymore, which I don’t understand. But I still care about Cathy and what she had to go through. I remember how much she loved the outdoors. Sunsets, mountains, and anything beautiful!
