new snow

The sun rose in a peach-orange glow this morning. As it drove itself up to the bright blue sky, the new snow began to sparkle in welcome.  It took my breath away. The bulls had already risen from their warm straw bed and strung out through the pasture, turned to the house wondering why I hadn’t driven the tractor out to feed them yet. Coveralls, jacket, warm hat and gloves walked out with me to my  Prairie Gold tractor already warmed up and ready to pull the hay sled out to feed. It was magical, but the bulls didn’t seem to notice anything but the green of alfalfa in their noses.
